A study done at the University of West Florida states that if you pull your toes toward your shins as you do a lying hamstring leg curl you’ll lift at least an additional 20 pounds.  The study shows this as dorsiflexion.  The foot position allows calves to assist the hamstrings and glutes to increase the lift.

 

Suggestions as you do the exercise – When you lower the weight, extend your ankles so your toes point away from your shins. As you lower the weight this will increase the intensity.
